MEDICATIONS FOR AQUARIUMS
Every aquarist should have a first aid kit of fish medicine. Many fish diseases attack fast, meaning the fish may be dead before the medicine ships. So, it is important to have a few medicines on hand for fish emergencies. Fish medicines may be grouped into those that treat bacteria, fungus, or parasites.
Metronidazole for fish, like Metroplex or Medic, treats fish bacterial infection and is a fish parasite treatment for protozoans like ich and marine velvet.
A general bacteria and fish fungus treatment, like Kanaplax, can treat fish fungal infections like dropsy, fin rot, and pop eye fish infections.
Ich medicine for fish in a reef tank is complicated. Some medicines treat ich but don’t eliminate it. Those medications that completely remove ich are not reef safe. See the ich medicine section or contact our expert support for more details.
